The Protective Impacts of α-tocopherol Supplementation on the Semen Quality of Sapera Goat Preserved at 4oC

Supplementation of vitamin E (α-tocopherol) as an antioxidant into extender is useful to maintain sperm quality during the process cryopreservation by protecting sperms from reactive oxygen species (ROS). This study aims evaluate protective impacts supplementation on motility, viability, and reducing abnormality in Sapera goats. The sample semen used present was obtained fresh good-quality ejaculates goats collected artificial vagina. groups involve one controlled treatment group, which contains tris egg yolk (TEY) without (P0), three that contain semen, TEY extender, different doses E, i.e., 1 mg/mL (P1), 2 (P2), 3 (P3), respectively. Data experiments were analyzed using Repeated Measures Multivariate Analysis (MANOVA). results showed extenders added with at a dose (P1) produced highest motility viability lowest abnormalities after 24th hour cryopreservation. among observed (P3) 96th cryopreservation, almost same control group (P0) had viability. In conclusion, current found can preserve refrigerator up 96 h 4°C provides higher percentage, lower percentage abnormality.
